Lunch Club, Mon - Fri 12-1
Several of us meet every weekday on the top floor of Central Dining Hall (aka River's Street Cafe). We usually sit in the middle of the great room facing the window, across River Street from the River Street parking deck.
Book & Coffee
Grab a cup of coffee and meet us for book discussion on the third floor of the student union by the entrance to Rich Mountain Room (Rm 302). Several groups meet weekly on campus in Whitewater (2nd floor student union near McAllister's Deli) for coffee and discussion of our latest book. Authors we may read in 2011-2012 are Timothy Keller (The Reason for God or Counterfeit Gods), C.S. Lewis (Til We Have Faces, The Problem of Pain, The Four Loves or Miracles), or Lauren Winner (Girl Meets God or Mudhouse Sabbath). The books and the times will be chosen the first Wednesday night meeting of the semester.
Theology & Film Night
Homemade popcorn and Blue Sky Soda and a great film in a laid-back home environment. Monthly on Saturday nights at 7:30, with carpool from campus available.
Fall Retreat
End of October or early November at Camp Evergreen, in the north GA mountains.
End of the Semester Parties
The infamous White Elephant party in December (no dead rodents this year please) and a cookout in April.
Night Hike Worship
Monthly, Thursday nights, 9 PM in the ASU woods. Like nothing you've ever done before.
Individual Meetings
We will find time to meet you individually, usually within a couple of days, whether to discuss serious personal or theological matters or just to hang out. This is a big part of what we do. Just contact us...
Summer Staff @ Camp Evergreen
Work as a counselor at a traditional summer camp in the north Georgia mountains serving both pay campers and at-risk kids. See www.campevergreen.org for more information.
Serve the Community
At Trail we believe in supporting existing service opportunities provided by the ACT office at Appalachian State rather than organizing our own mission trips and service opportunities. Many students today think Christians only care about "saving souls" but not about the poor, the environment, clean water, the sick, etc. Trail wants to change that image. In particular, we are avid supporters of ACT's Alternative Spring Break program. Check out www.act.appstate.edu for more information.
